Navruz holiday - preparations - part 1

Navruz, as it is known here in Tajikistan, or Nowruz, is the new year celebration in much of the Persian, Central Asian, and Black Sea regions of the world. Starting on March 21, the vernal equinox, we're getting four days off from the university.

The city has been getting ready for a while.

New decorations have been going up on major boulevards and at major intersections.

 Schools, universities, and public/government offices have been putting up new signs:

As befits a spring holiday, the green strips are being planted with flowers:

...and even new trees!
