Easter - Saturday party at our apartment

Easter is a holiday we enjoy sharing with others when we are overseas, so we planned a party for the MGU teachers (during the time they ordinarily have our academic writing class).

Preparation involved exploration of the city to find various things: food coloring, green tissue or crepe paper, small baskets (or flowerpots), chocolate eggs, etc. Each item was a providential gift (running into a colleague who could direct me), a linguistic triumph (not "tissue" as in facial tissue, but as in "very thin paper") or a bit of serendipity (small potted pansies? perfect!)

I did some baking (apricot bread, snowball cookies) and also commissioned a local cafe (which supports women in need) to bake hot cross buns for me--look how beautifully they turned out!
I put together Easter "baskets" in the flower pots for our guests:

Lilacs have just come in season, so I got a bunch from the ladies who come in from villages to sell to city folk:
We got the food ready and an egg dyeing table ready for fun:

The teachers said they have colored eggs for Navruz and other holidays and they had the creativity

to prove it:

We had so much fun with both the eggs (time for all of us teachers and linguists to be a bit creative) and with the conversation over food.

After the party, our house guest Imaan, an American English Teaching Assistant in town from her base in Panjikent, helped us with some leftovers:

I wonder what each of us will remember from this event?
